Poem page twenty-three

In a dream I had ...

I approach you from far away along a sunlight path
That guides me through a dream-world mist.
Finding you in all my dreams
I see you standing pondering some place distant.
My fingertips move closer, searching through fog.
You know me by my touch,
Never turning and unseen you smile for me.

In my dream world my heart fills with love
For your beauty and your spirit
But weighs heavily for your tiredness and worry.

My hand slips bravely around your waist,
Reaching through countless lives and lonely nights.
Supporting your burdens and comforting to your soul
And for a half-second in a dream state my message is clear..
That my love and care is boundless yet unfulfilled.

Drawn closer, stretching a moments grace
My finger-tips stroke your cheek and brushing your hair
I awake wondering what spirit moved my hand
So close to you so far removed from me.
And what waking days will bring for us.

A Duel of Delight and Desperation
