Poem page two
Secret Lovers - Secret Kisses
Secret lovers are we
Whose time is not yet here
Our meetings are myth
We share secrets on the `phone
Between times I miss you my love
Waiting, I wonder when.
I can never bring you flowers
Send love letters, notes or cards
So the song-smiths on the radio sing my messages of love
Lover, listen to the song-smiths serenade
And know that I am singing too
When we must be apart, I sing these same songs to you.
We are together but a short while
Leaving a thousand thoughts unsaid
Thoughts of how I love and miss you
In a thousand different ways.
We haven`t had time to walk - like lovers, in the rain
Nor picnic in the park.
I need to hold you close
And know your simple softness
And your beauty as you breathe.
This stillness we share secretly.
Time spent, I beg return anew
For I need to see your eyes, your smile
And hear your words and laughter before you leave.
So
listen to the radio my love
And as the song-smiths serenade
Hear my voice, hear me say I love you
In a thousand different ways
Hear each new song-smith say I love and miss you more
Lover know the longing that I feel
Weep my lover; weep, silently inside
Hear the song-smith say soon we must be together
And know this must be so
Surely soon this must be so.
A Duel of Delight and Desperation
